Occlusion in implant dentistry
Category: Surgery
Instructor(s): DEVANG PATEL
Course structure: Lessons: 7 lectures | Duration: 4 hours 40 minutes
Course overview
The definitive course on fundamentals on Occlusion in Implant Dentistry.
This program provides you with fundamental concepts on occlusion and occlusal load in implant dentistry, from single implant-supported crowns to full-arch implant supported prostheses.
This understanding will help you in treating cases with implant restorations in your daily practice.
Occlusion in Implant Dentistry video course also focuses on the biological and occlusal/biomechanical differences between natural teeth and implants, and includes several
how-to videos on full occlusal assessment and occlusal schemes for various implant cases.
Following these lectures, you will be able to plan occlusal schemes for various clinical scenarios with ease and confidence.
Occlusion in Implant Dentistry didactic objectives:
-Introduce differences between natural teeth and implant;
-Explain biomechanical consequences of occlusal overloading on implants;
-Give an understanding of the principles of implant occlusion;
-Introduce the concept of Implant Protected Occlusion; Discuss various occlusal schemes for different clinical scenarios
At the end of the course, you will:
-Understand the principles used for implant occlusion and the different occlusal aspects in Implant Dentistry
-Have full understanding of biological implications of occlusal overload on implants
-Perform full occlusal assessment and carry out the information gathering process
-Decide appropriate occlusal schemes for various implant cases, from single-tooth to full-arch cases
-Record occlusion for implant cases
Who the course is for: Implantologists and general practitioners of all levels of experience who are eager to know more about the principles of occlusion, occlusal load and occlusal schemes in Implant Dentistry.
Curriculum
Lesson 1: Introduction to occlusal Implant Dentistry
- This lecture will guide you through the understanding the biomechanical implications of occlusal overload on Implants and how it can affect patient rehabilitation; Dr. Patel will cover during the lectures the rationale behind the importance of an effective occlusal exam in Implantology.
Lesson 2: Natural teeth vs Implants
- In this video Dr. Patel will explain the main differences between natural teeth and implants; providing the full basis and understanding of the main biological and occlusal characteristics of natural teeth and implant from an occlusal assessment point of view.
Lesson 3: Occlusal assessment
- In this video lecture Dr. Patel will go through a full Demonstration of comprehensive occlusal examination and will explain how to achieve a complete occlusal assessment. A step by step clinical demonstration completes the lecture.
Lesson 4: Principles of Implant Occlusion
- In this video Dr. Devang Patel will explain what are the various factors that affect implant occlusion and deepen the concept of Implant Protected Occlusion.
Lesson 5: Occlusal schemes
- This theoretical and practical lecture will cover and explain different occlusal schemes that need to be considered in different clinical scenarios. Dr. Patel will guide you through all the different occlusal schemes and when to use them.
Lesson 6: Recording occlusion
- This lecture focuses on the various methods used to record implant occlusion from single tooth to full arch. Dr. Patel will explain and perform occlusal registration applying it to different cases showing how to reach a satisfactory occlusal assessment.
Lesson 7: Case based discussion
- This video lecture brings to practice all the fundamentals learned into the course, Dr. Patel will present various occlusal schemes used in practical cases.
